Earlier this week, we informed you that ‘Brothers & Sisters‘ was considering casting Joe Jonas to play a younger version of Tommy in a special two-hour episode filled with flashback sequences and set to air in April.

Fan reaction from the news differed a lot. Some fans were glad at the idea of one of the Jonas brothers to be part of the series as Joe not only shared physical features with actor Balthazar Getty, which would have helped making this younger version of Tommy be believable, but also because the Jonas Brothers’ following could have tuned in the show and help boost the ratings.
Other fans were outraged at the idea that Joe Jonas could land the role. Comments ranged from fans claiming that Joe did not look like Getty at all to them wondering if Joe Jonas had the needed acting skills to play such a role.
No matter what’s your opinion, Jonas did not get the part after all. A young actor from ‘Make It or Break It’ was offered the role instead.
Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello broke the scoop that young actor Cody Longo, who plays Nicky Russo on ‘Make It or Break It,’ has landed the role of young Tommy. According to Ausiello’s trusted sources, Joe Jonas could not accept the role due to a scheduling conflict.
Cody Longo may not be as popular as Joe Jonas but he does have Balthazar Getty’s rugged looks and Longo has more acting experience than Joe, which will come in handy when portraying one of the Walkers. In the end, Joe Jonas’ scheduling conflict may serve the show better than if he had been available.
The special ‘Brothers & Sisters’ episode will feature flashbacks set in three different time periods. These scenes are said to be key in uncovering one of the Walkers’ family secrets. Longo will play the 16-year-old version of Tommy.
Joe Jonas is no longer attached to “Brothers & Sisters“. The Jonas Brothers member who is slated to make his first guest TV appearance in the drama backed out due to scheduling conflict. He was initially tapped to play the younger version of Balthazar Getty’s character, Tommy Walker.

However, the series has found a replacement for him in Cody Longo. Known as Nicky Russo on ABC Family’s “Make It or Break It“, Longo is now the 16-year-old Tommy in a two-hour flashback episode. Executive Producer David Marshall Grant told EW that the episode will go back to three different time periods and expose a “shocking and transformative” secret about the Walker family.
Longo wrote on his Twitter that he would begin shooting his scene next week but has met Getty on Friday, February 5. “Meeting with Balthazar Getty today to prep and recur as a younger him on Brothers & Sisters,” he wrote.
Joe Jonas scores himself a TV guest appearance. The middle of Jonas Brothers who has expressed his desire to pursue acting career will be guest starring on “Brothers & Sisters” as the young version of Tommy Walker. The character’s older version is played by Balthazar Getty whom the producers thought bears a resemblance to Joe.

ABC has not confirmed the role yet but an insider told E! Online that younger Tommy is sought for two episodes that will trace back the Walkers’ history. This means other young actors are coming on board the show. The names, according to sources are, Kay Panabaker as Kitty, Anna Wood as Sarah, and Kasey Campbell as Kevin.
Another actor tapped to be in the flashback story arc would be Rachael Leigh Cook. She allegedly will play Nora Walker aka Sally Field’s character. But unlike Joe, her stint has not been confirmed. She auditioned for the role but so did Courtney Ford (”Dexter“) and Nora Zehetner (”Heroes“).

TV bosses have dismissed rumors Calista Flockhart is set to follow in Rob Lowe’s footsteps by quitting hit show “Brothers & Sisters“. The actor recently announced he will bid farewell to his TV family at the end of season four, which is set to air in the U.S. in February.

And after the news broke, rumors began circulating that Flockhart would be the next big name to walk away from the program. But ABC’s Head Showrunner, David Marshall Grant, is adamant the actress will not be giving up her place in the series.
He tells America’s TV Guide magazine, “We are all expecting Calista to come back next season as a series regular and she is. We’re all expecting her to do a great year next year.”
Kitty has already begun fundraising for her campaign for Robert’s vacated U.S. Senate seat. She hasn’t yet told the family, though. At dinner, she finally tells them and they are all just dumbfounded. The group decides to anonymously vote on it. Everyone votes yes, except one. Who was the lone “no” vote?

Scotty is frightened that his restaurant may close. He plans a fundraising event there and Nora is helping out as a guest chef. Robert is not happy about the “no” vote and he goes to Nora to discuss it. She says the vote wasn’t hers. Yeah, right! When he finds out that Scotty’s other guest chef, the mayor, won’t be coming for his event, Robert volunteers. As Nora and Robert are preparing the meal, he can’t drop the “no” vote. Sarah is trying to have a “grown up” relationship with Roy, but the rest of the family thinks it’s weird they haven’t had sex yet. On a date later, Sarah and Roy decide to stop going so slow and end up at a motel. Then she gets a text – from Luc! So excited.
Sarah decides not to give up on the reality of Roy for the fantasy of Luc. Kevin’s 20-year high school reunion is coming up, but he doesn’t want to go. The family is trying to convince Kevin he should go to the reunion. Kitty ends up convincing him to go, promising that she’ll be his date. At the reunion, Kitty ends up being recognized right away. Kevin surprisingly ends up running into an old friend, who he had a crush on. Kevin ends up trying to impress the guy with his success since high school and lets it loose he might be a father soon. The guy ends up announcing it to the room. Jinxed, he soon finds out that the implantation didn’t take.
Kevin’s high school crush also lets it slip to Kitty that he and Kevin rigged the election so she would lose the high school presidency. Instead of going off on Kevin, Kitty goes off on the guy, defending Kevin. Later, Kevin admits that he was the “no” vote not Nora. He voted no, because he didn’t want to be Kitty’s campaign manager and be engrossed in politics even more. After Robert finds out Kevin voted no, he apologizes to Nora. She says she still felt like voting no. She’s really worried for Kitty. Holly seems still set on selling her shares in Ojai, but she’s sure they’re worth more than what Dennis has offered her.
She’s trying to stall while she figures out what that may be. David tells her that she’s really hung up on William Walker still and the company she has no business being a part of in the first place. Rebecca comes over and catches David packing. Looks like he has taken a gig in Belize and will be gone for three months. After she tells her mother, Holly isn’t willing to chase after him.
When she meets up with Dennis, he tries to make a deal to exchange information and more – he makes a pass at her and she just sits there. Why didn’t she let him have it? When she gets back home, David is still there and he proposes.
The question remains: Did she sleep with Dennis?

Despite recent reports that she will be MIA much of next season, Calista Flockhart isn’t scaling back her role on Brothers & Sisters, the show’s executive producer said. “We were expecting Calista to be back next season as a series regular, and she is,” David Marshall Grant says. “We’re expecting to do a great year with her next year.”
Reports of Flockhart’s reduced schedule in Season Five began surfacing following confirmation that Rob Lowe would depart the ABC family drama after this season. But Flockhart, who plays Lowe’s TV wife Kitty McAllister, will be “visible as ever,” according to Grant and a rep from ABC, who confirmed her status as a series regular.

Kitty’s recent battle against lymphoma was a dramatic story for the show, ending in a risky, successful bone marrow transplant. Kitty is now running for U.S. Senate. While it would seem like an odd time for the show to scale back on one of its most dynamic characters, a victory would conceivably have her in Washington, D.C., a lot. As for Lowe’s exit, he reportedly asked out of his contract because he felt his character, Sen. Robert McCallister, was being underutilized. His exit strategy is still unclear. “We have a bunch of ideas on the table,” Grant says. “Right now, we’re just examining what would be the most exciting way to take us to the end of the season.”
Lowe, whose negotiated exit from the Brothers & Sisters cast was amicable, is in talks to headline a new ABC show, according to network president Steve McPherson. While these nebulous “series regular” comments don’t necessarily mean Calista won’t miss time next season, we’re glad to hear she’ll be a major presence either way.
