“House M.D.” has recruited an actress to be a new doctor for its eighth season. It has been confirmed that Odette Yustman is added to the cast ensemble as a series regular starting this fall. While details of her role are still kept under wraps, it is said that her character will meet Hugh Laurie’s House behind the bars and become a member of his team of diagnosticians.
This marks the first regular addition to the cast ensemble since Olivia Wilde, Peter Jacobson and Kal Penn were promoted in season 4. The FOX hit medical drama show is additionally looking for an actress to fill the role of Dean of Medicine, which was recently left vacant by Lisa Edelstein.
Odette has previously appeared in several episode of “Brothers & Sisters“, which was canceled by ABC earlier this year. She happens to be married to the show’s alum Dave Annable.
The “You Again” beauty also lands a role on another FOX series “Breaking In“. Words are, there is a deal made to allow her to do the rookie comedy show should it be picked up for a second season, while doing “House M.D.” as well.
Season 8 of “House M.D.” will premiere Monday, October 3 at 9 P.M. ET/PT.

There had been a serious effort by ABC and producing studio ABC Studios to find a price point at which they could bring the show back for an abbreviated sixth and final season. There have been talks with star Calista Flockhart to return for six episodes next season. Last May, Brothers & Sisters clinched a last-minute 18-episode order that was subsequently expanded to 22 episodes. But the indications are, with so many drama pilots scoring high in testings and screenings this year, ABC may be ready to say good-bye to the Walker clan.

ABC is yet to pick up “Brothers & Sisters” for a new season, but the studio is reportedly trying to find a way to bring the show back for a sixth season. Rumor has it, the plans include an abbreviated final season and less Calista Flockhart.
With soft ratings and expensive large cast, the veteran ABC series may get budget reduction if it will come back for a sixth season to give a proper closure. Since Flockhart’s character of Kitty is not so prominent anymore, the studio is said offering the actress to do only six episodes next season.
The final season, meanwhile, could range from 6 to 18 episodes with other cast having minimum guarantee of 13 episodes, Deadline reports. Should the new season have lesser episode, the studio will have to negotiate separately with the stars. Sally Field, in particular, may not have a problem with that because she will be busy shooting Steven Spielberg’s feature film “Lincoln“.
“Brothers & Sisters” season 5 finale, “Walker Down the Aisle”, will air Sunday, May 8 with Sarah and Luc’s impending wedding. The nuptials could be in jeopardy as more secrets are unraveled and Sarah is unwilling to swap vows in such situation.
Rachel Griffiths recently sparked speculation that the show would end with the fifth season after she jokingly said at Australia’s Logie Awards, “I’m soon to be unemployed so I checked in with [Australia's unemployment department] Centrelink … and said, ‘Looks like I’m out of a job and wanna sign up’.”
Last night surprise Logie presenter Rachel Griffiths appeared to indicate US drama Brothers and Sisters is about to be axed.
During a chat with host Shane Bourne, she was asked about her plans to direct her first feature length movie in Australia next year, called B-Model.
“I’m soon to be unemployed so I checked in with Centrelink and I don’t know if anybody’s noticed they’re cracking down on the whole welfare thing. So I went to see Centrelink and said, ‘Looks like I’m out of a job and wanna sign up.’
“And they said, ‘You have to be looking for work.’ So I said I’m trying to direct a movie, and it’s all gone crazy.”
When joking about her attempts to find work she added, “I looked them in the eye and said, ‘I think I am going to be unemployed,’ and they didn’t seem to be very warm.”
ABC drama Brothers and Sisters is yet to be renewed for the US Fall season and is one of the shows tipped to go under the axe.
One more episode before the season finale, and perhaps, series finale, “Brothers & Sisters” will throw back the time. Nora recalls the time she fell in love with Brody but lost him at some point, causing a dilemma for Sarah who is about to get married to Luc.
In “For Better or for Worse”, after Sarah confronts Brody about him being her father, she decides she no longer wants him to be a part of her life or Nora’s, but Nora just can’t seem to let him go. Christine Garver and Adam Trahan play the younger versions of Nora and Brody. Also in the episode, Olivia struggles with the new addition of baby Daniel to the family.
The show continues to be in the bubble for ABC has yet to announce a renewal. Last week’s episode was down 6% to a low-tying 1.7 adults 18-49 rating. But next week’s finale is expected to gain a large audience as Sarah walks down the aisle with the love of her life, Luc. According to the synopsis, plans go horribly awry and the Walkers learn several surprising lessons about the real meaning of family.
